Review: Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'Last Stand' a pointless modern western

Schwarzenegger is back, and his timing couldn’t be any worse. At a time when violence in movies is being scrutinized, Arnold arrives with a no-holds-barred shoot-em-up in “The Last Stand.”

Fast cars, cheeky one-liners and very, very big guns showcase this mild, pointless modern western. “The Last Stand” is a dumbed-down, mutated, contemporary version of the western classic “High Noon.” Though it’s not a remake by any stretch of the definition, the similarities are obvious. Schwarzenegger is the friendly, but exhausted Sherriff Ray Owens of the sleepy Arizona border town Sommerton Junction. The most action the town gets is from the rival football team, but when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the leader of an international drug cartel escapes an FBI transport and makes his way to the Mexico border via a supped-up Corvette ZR1, and by way of Arnold’s little hamlet, the town of Sommerton (with a population of 10, it seems) gets an unexpected war.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Running Time:2 hr. 4 min.
Release Date:June 30, 201
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, and some sensuality

Starring:
Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Xavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jodelle Ferland

In the third and latest installment of the "Twilight Saga," "Eclipse" finds our heroine Bella Swan romantically torn between her brooding vampire fiancee Edward Cullen and her hunky werewolf best friend Jacob Black. Meanwhile, an evil threat in the form of fiery vampire Victoria looms ever-closer to Forks. Still reeling from the death of her partner James in the first movie, Victoria is full of vengeance and dead-set on killing Bella with her army of newborn vamps.
Three Good Reasons

* David Slade, the director behind "30 Days of Night" and "Hard Candy," helms "Eclipse." Since every movie in the series has been handled by a different director, it would be interesting to see the third film through a different lens -- and Slade's tends to be dark, violent, and full of action.
* Bryce Dallas Howard of "The Village," "Lady in the Water," "Spider-Man 3," and more recently "Terminator Salvation" steps into the role of the renegade Victoria replacing Rachelle Lefevre (who played the character in the two previous movies). Audiences will get to see Howard bring a different dimension to the character.
* Fans of the novels will be thrilled to see the "tent scene" come to life on the big screen. Arguably one of the best parts of the entire saga combined, it shows Bella, Jacob, and Edward crammed into a tiny tent together. Imagine the tension!

The Increbible Hulk hits box office with a $54.5 million take

A bigger, meaner "The Incredible Hulk" crushed the competition at North American weekend box office with a $54.5 million take, but still fell short of its predecessor, according to studio estimates on Sunday.

The action-oriented film revival starring the hulking green superhero is only the second self-financed production from Marvel Studios, which paid General Electric Co's Universal Pictures a fee to market and distribute the film.

Caregiver Full Trailer

Since I have posted about KC Conception I have also thought about her Mega mom, Sharon Cuneta. Here's the full trailer of her latest movie. Caregiver. Many got excited upon hearing that she's doing a new movie, cause it's been years since she made one. Caregiver will also be shown in particular states in the U.S. And vast of Filipinos are waiting for it. Me? Hmmm I don't really have a plan to watch it. Though I know it's a good movie. A lot of Filipinos can relate to it, specially those who went out the country to work for their fams.
